Per la prima volta in italia, Roberta Bayley e David Godlis si raccontano al pubblico in questo evento unico e irripetibile.
Sono definiti i fotografi del punk. Hanno vissuto gli albori e il fermento della scena punk newyorkese che a partire dalla metà degli anni '70 si è sviluppata attorno al Cbgb, noto locale sulla Bowery. Attraverso gli scatti ai protagonisti dell'epoca, divenuti oggi icone di musica e stile, Roberta Bayley e David Godlis sono riusciti a documentare l' evoluzione e il declino di quel movimento, cristallizzato per sempre nelle loro immagini.

In questa conversazione in inglese, stimolata e moderata da Andrea Rock (Virgin radio), i due fotografi racconteranno le esperienze vissute a New York in quegli anni e gli aneddoti e le curiosità che stanno dietro alle loro foto esposte nella mostra a loro dedicata.

Roberta Bayley e David Godlis conoscono ogni angolo e ogni storia di quei luoghi e dispongono di una quantità di informazioni non scritte di quel periodo che potrebbero riempire un’enciclopedia.

Un'occasione unica per fare un tuffo in uno dei periodi più vitali della New York che fu di Patti Smith, di David Byrne, di Richard Lloyd, di Debbie Harry, dei Ramones e di moltissimi altri artisti che hanno segnato intere generazioni nei decenni a venire.

Questo incontro è un'imperdibile appendice della mostra fotografica "Blank generation - il punk di New York all'ombra del Palladio"

 

 

For the first time in Italy, Roberta Bayley and David Godlis, better known as GODLIS, tell their stories to the public in this unique and unrepeatable event that will take place  at the Salone d'Onore of Palazzo Chiericati in Vicenza, on Saturday 01 April 2023 at 16.30.

Roberta Bayley and Godlis are defined as the photographers of Punk. They lived through the beginnings and the ferment of the New York Punk scene that from the mid-1970s developed around CBGB's, a well-known club on the Bowery. Through their shots of the protagonists of the time, who have become icons of music and style today, Roberta Bayley and Godlis have managed to document the evolution and decline of that movement, crystallised forever in their images.

In this conversation in English, prompted and moderated by Andrea Rock (Virgin Radio), the two photographers will talk about their experiences in the New York of those years and the anecdotes and curiosities surrounding the photos in the exhibition dedicated to them.

Roberta Bayley and Godlis know every detail and every story of those places and have a huge amount of unwritten information about that period that could fill an encyclopaedia.

This is a unique opportunity to take a look at one of the most vital periods in New York City that was Patti Smith's, David Byrne's, Richard Lloyd's, Debbie Harry's, the Ramones' and so many other artists that marked entire generations in the decades to come.

This meeting is an unmissable appendix to the photographic exhibition "Blank Generation - New York Punk in the Shadow of Palladio" dedicated to Roberta Bayley and Godlis, scheduled at the Galleries of Palazzo Thiene in Vicenza from 31/03/23 to 14/05/23

The event and exhibition are organised by Andrea Compagnin, creator and curator, and Matteo Bussi with the patronage of the Municipality of Vicenza and in collaboration with AGSM-AIM, Toyota Oliviero, Stand By, Blunt Skateshop, Essequadro Arte e Cornici, Oca Bianca da Ugo, and The Music Photo Gallery.
